Marie-Ophélie Gindrat is violin solo ( concertmaster) of the Camerata Ataremac since December 2018.
Artistic director of the ensemble: Elsa Dorbath.
Founded in Lausanne in 2017 at the initiative of Elsa Dorbath, Camerata Ataremac is a group of sixteen string players, driven by the same idea: to make music together, without a conductor, in the most chamber music spirit possible.
The usual difference between a chamber music group like a string quartet and a string orchestra is the conductor. Whether he or she has a baton or an instrument in his or her hands, it is the conductor who makes the musical choices. Many people think that with an ensemble the size of the Camerata, it would be utopian to work differently, but the musicians of Ataremac are convinced of the contrary! The musicians of Ataremac are convinced that the opposite is true. All ideas are listened to, considered and tried out: it is a real laboratory.
The camerata is made up of musicians from many different cultural backgrounds with a variety of musical influences (from baroque music to contemporary music). They are teachers, orchestral musicians or freelancers. They gather around their common points and are nourished by their differences. The adventure is not led by one person but by sixteen. The balance is fragile and the argument complex! But the result is exciting: on stage, each musician puts his or her talent and experience at the service of the ensemble and the result is enormous energy and maximum risk-taking in the service of the music. They have a lot of fun playing together and the audience feels it!
Each performance of Camerata Ataremac is intended to be as sincere and personal as possible. In this perspective, Camerata Ataremac wishes to promote the music of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as the great works of the repertoire in a warm and playful way.
Contact with the public is essential for the ensemble and moderation is an integral part of its concerts, with a view to mediation and introduction to the works, to its universe and its artistic choices.
